BIHL Group Launches Partnership with Journey of Hope Botswana to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness and Support Screening Initiatives
Answering the call of “How pink can you go?” the BIHL Group today officially launched a partnership with Journey of Hope Botswana, to support increased awareness, education and screening for breast cancer. To further cement its commitment to the cause, BIHL Group presented a donation of P50,000 to Journey of Hope Botswana. This donation will directly support the NGO’s nationwide initiatives, enabling them to continue their outreach efforts nationwide.
The partnership was inaugurated through an engaging session with BIHL staff, where crucial insights into the state of breast cancer in Botswana were shared. Attendees were briefed on breast cancer statistics, with experts emphasising the need for early detection as a key factor in improving survival rates. In addition to statistics, staff were educated on the importance of self-examinations and how to effectively carry them out. Village Imaging was also on-site to provide ultrasounds screenings for staff throughout the morning.
Tebogo Keepetsoe, representing the BIHL Group, spoke at the event, underscoring the importance of the partnership and BIHL’s dedication to promoting the health and wellbeing of Batswana. “At the BIHL Group, we believe in creating lasting impacts in the lives of the people we serve. Our partnership with Journey of Hope Botswana is a reflection of this commitment, as we join forces to tackle one of the most critical health challenges facing women in our country today. By raising awareness, encouraging early detection, and supporting education, we hope to make a real difference in the fight against breast cancer.”
Journey of Hope Botswana continues to play a pivotal role in breast cancer awareness across the country, providing education, mobile screening services, and support for those in need. This partnership marks another significant step in the NGO’s ongoing mission to improve health outcomes through early detection and accessible screening.
“According to the 2019 Botswana National Cancer Registry, breast cancer accounted for approximately 20% of all cancer cases diagnosed in women, and breast cancer continues to be amongst he most common cancers in women, albeit also affecting men. This is why we are proud to contribute P50,000 towards this cause, as we stand in solidarity with all those affected by breast cancer, both directly and indirectly,” said Keepetsoe.
