Fortifying our Strength in Numbers

The BIHL Group is pleased to share the news of two strategic executive appointments within subsidiaries Botswana Life and Bifm, fortifying the depth of talent and Strength in Numbers across the Group.

Neo Bogatsu has been appointed Deputy CEO of Botswana Life, supporting current CEO, Ronald Samuels. She holds a BCom (Accounting) degree from University of Botswana and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Neo has 26 years of experience in the financial services sector and has been a part of the Group for 12 years, most recently as CEO of Bifm for 8 years, during which she grew the business steadily, with assets under management (AUM) growing 88.9%. Through her stewardship, Bifm has increased its institutional and retail products in line with the needs of the market. Neo was also instrumental in the development of personnel across the business, which saw a rise of young employees attaining professional qualifications, gaining experience and promotions during her tenure. Neo is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) as well as the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA). We have every confidence the duo of Ronald as CEO and Neo as his Deputy will help Botswana Life remain a flagship subsidiary in our Group, indeed growing even further.

Clair Mathe-Lisenda has been appointed CEO of Bifm, having served as Deputy CEO prior for 8 months.  During this time, she played a key role in using her expertise as she worked intimately with the BIFM team on a number of strategic assignments. Clair holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Business with Finance from the University of Essex (UK), a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce, with the latter two both from the University of Witwatersrand (RSA). She is a CFA and CAIA Charter holder and has over 18 years of experience in the industry across such roles as General Manager - Investments at Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund (BPOPF) and Managing Director of IPRO Botswana.

“We congratulate both Neo and Clair and are excited to see not only Batswana women executives take the reins but to know these leadership ascensions have all been made from within the business. It is demonstrative of the depth of talent we have as a group and that we will continue to develop as we prioritise our people and our culture,” said the BIHL Group CEO, Catherine Lesetedi.

The BIHL Group is passionate about creating shared value to support people – colleagues, clients, communities, and country – and improving livelihoods at every turn. Ensuring the Group and its subsidiaries are as strong and prepared to deliver even greater impact is therefore paramount, and these appointments are a key part of that.
